Urdu Reader V (اُردو، پانچویں جماعت کے لیے) is the Sindh Textbook Board's Class 5 Urdu reader, prepared اردو نصاب لازمی 2018ء کے مطابق and approved by the School Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh (letter dated 23-01-2023). Its 29 lessons mix نظمیں (poems), کہانیاں (stories), سوانح and معلوماتی مضامین.
The year opens with اے خدا (نظم) and نعت, then moves through ایفائے عہد, حضرت خدیجۃ الکبریٰ, سچی کہانی, حضرت سچل سرمست, بہار آئی, درختوں سے پیار کرو, بائیو سرٹاپ کی سیر, ہمارا رہن سہن اور رسم و رواج, کاغذ, نائیک محمد اشرف شہید, انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی and ہم اور ہمارا ماحول. The national-theme block pairs وطن کا ترانہ (شان الحق حقی) with میرا وطن رہے سلامت — the قومی ترانہ lesson telling the anthem's full story.
Later lessons range widely: اسکاؤٹنگ, the funny ٹوٹ بٹوٹ کے مرغے, سقے کا گدھا, اسٹیٹ بینک میوزیم (عجائب گھر) اور آرٹ گیلری, تتلی (اختر شیرانی), خط (letter writing), ہم اور ہماری زمین, ایمان دار لڑکا, سال کے بارہ مہینے (a play), میں ہوں متوازن غذا, سلطانہ رضیہ (فہمیدہ ریاض), مُفت مشورہ and خضر کا کام کروں راہ نُما بن جاؤں. The book closes with a فرہنگ (glossary). Every lesson carries حاصلاتِ تعلم, مشق exercises, سرگرمیاں and برائے اساتذہ guidance.

How many lessons are in Urdu Reader V?

Does the book teach the national anthem?
Yes — the lesson 'میرا وطن رہے سلامت' (page 79) tells the full story of Pakistan's قومی ترانہ: the 1949 competition, the 723 submitted tunes and lyrics, and its approval on 13 August 1954. It sits right after the نظم 'وطن کا ترانہ' (page 75).
Is there a lesson on letter writing?
