Social Studies For Class V is the Sindh Textbook Board's Class 5 social studies textbook in English medium, prepared according to the new curriculum in collaboration with the V.M Institute for Education, Karachi, and approved by the Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh (letter No.S.O(G-1) E&L/Curriculum-2014, dated 29-12-2014).
Its 13 chapters open with geography — Globe and Map Skills (latitudes, longitudes, map scales), Physical Regions and Climate — then turn to history: Why Do We Learn History?, The Struggle for Independence, and Important People and Events in the History of Pakistan and the World. Society and economy follow in Culture, Goods and Services, Money in our Lives and Means of Information.
The closing stretch is values and civics — Our Values, Our Behaviour and The System of Government in Pakistan — ending with Explorers and Explorations (Marco Polo, Ibn-e-Battuta, Neil Armstrong, Vasco de Gama). Every chapter opens with a Learning Outcomes box, carries a teacher's guide at the bottom of each page, and ends with exercises.
