Science V is the Sindh Textbook Board's Class 5 science textbook in English medium, approved by the Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh (2015) under the New Curriculum 2006. Its 10 chapters cover life science, physical science and earth science in equal measure.
The year opens with Classification of living things — kingdoms, vertebrates and invertebrates, flowering plants and the monocot/dicot split — then moves through Microorganisms, Seeds and their germination, and Environmental pollution. The physical-science thread runs through Matter and changes in its states, Force and machines, Properties and behavior of light, and Electricity and magnetism.
The light chapter is a favourite: luminous and non-luminous objects, shadows, eclipse formation, the pinhole camera and the phases of the moon. Soils and Our solar system close the year. Every chapter opens with an 'In this chapter, you will learn about' box and clear learning outcomes for the teacher.
