Biology is the single-volume NCERT textbook for Class 12 (rationalized, 2026-27), with 13 chapters across 5 units: Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human Welfare, Biotechnology, and Ecology. It is the most exam-heavy science subject — and the backbone of NEET preparation, where NCERT lines are quoted almost verbatim.
The rationalized edition cut the old 16 chapters down to 13 — Reproduction in Organisms, Strategies for Enhancement in Food Production and Environmental Issues are gone. Genetics and Evolution alone carry the highest weightage (about 20 marks), so chapters 4-6 deserve the deepest study.
