The Class 8 History book (Urdu Medium, Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board, یکساں قومی نصاب 2022) takes students from the arrival of the British in the subcontinent to the ideological foundations of Pakistan. It opens with the East India Company — its factories at Surat, the battles of Plassey and Buxar, and how a trading company became the ruler of the subcontinent by 1857 — then moves to the Islamic revival movements: the Jihad Movement of Syed Ahmad Shaheed, the Faraizi movement, the Aligarh movement of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Darul Uloom Deoband and Nadva-tul-Ulema.
The middle chapters cover the two World Wars and their impact on the subcontinent, the League of Nations and the UN, and the political awakening — the founding of the Muslim League, the Khilafat movement, Nehru Report, the Allahabad address of 1930 and the Lahore Resolution of 1940. The final chapter explains the ideology of Pakistan from 1947 to the present day: the Objectives Resolution, the constitutions, and what the Two-Nation Theory means for a citizen today. Every chapter ends with اہم نکات (main points) and a مشق with MCQs, short and long questions.
