Ethics (اخلاقیات) is the subject studied by non-Muslim students in place of Islamiat, and this 2022 PCTB edition packs five rich units into 54 pages. It opens with مذاہب کا تعارف — what religion is, its role in human progress, social welfare and character-building — then tours دنیا کے مذاہب with chapters on کنفیوشس ازم (Confucianism) and تاؤ ازم (Taoism), covering each faith's founder, books and basic teachings. The third unit, پاکستان میں مذہبی تہوار, is a particular strength: it teaches the festivals of Pakistan's own minority communities — the birthday of Bhagwan Shri Krishna (جنم اشٹمی) and Baisakhi/Vaisakhi.
The final two units turn from belief to behaviour: اخلاقی اقدار covers patriotism (حب الوطنی), respect for law (قانون کا احترام) and social etiquette (معاشرتی آداب), while شخصیات studies four lives — the poet-saint Meera Bai, Saint Augustine (مقدس اگستین), Abraham Lincoln and the Muslim philosopher Ahmad ibn Muhammad Miskawayh, author of تہذیب الاخلاق. Who studies Ethics instead of Islamiat in Class 8?
In Punjab's schools, non-Muslim students study Ethics (اخلاقیات) as an alternative to Islamiat. It carries the same weight in the curriculum and covers comparative religion, moral values and great personalities rather than Islamic studies.
Which religions and festivals does the book cover?
Unit 2 introduces Confucianism (کنفیوشس ازم) and Taoism (تاؤ ازم) — their founders, books and basic teachings — while Unit 3 covers the religious festivals celebrated in Pakistan: Janmashtami, the birthday of Bhagwan Shri Krishna, and Baisakhi/Vaisakhi. Unit 1 also surveys the world's major religions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam.
Which is the hardest unit to prepare for exams?
Most students find Unit 2 (دنیا کے مذاہب) the trickiest because the Chinese names and terms — کنفیوشس، لاؤزے، تاؤ ازم — are unfamiliar. Make a small table of founder, book and basic teachings for each religion and revise it daily. Unit 5 (شخصیات) is the most scoring: learn each personality's life events and character in 4–5 points.
What is the فرہنگ at the end of the book?
