The Class 8 Arabic textbook is really two books in one. الجزء الأول (Part 1) teaches Arabic through eight reading lessons on Islamic themes: the loyalty of Sayyidah Khadija (الزَّوْجَةُ الْوَفِيَّةُ), the Hijri calendar (السَّنَةُ الْهِجْرِيَّةُ), the justice of Hazrat Umar (عَدْلُ عُمَرَ), the teacher as mujahid (الْمُعَلِّمُ الْمُجَاهِدُ), Islamic civilization's heritage (التُّرَاثُ الْحَضَارِيُّ الْإِسْلَامِيُّ), Muslim scientists (مِنْ عُلَمَاءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ), Islam's view of alcohol and drugs (نَظْرَةُ الْإِسْلَامِ لِلْخُمُورِ وَالْمُخَدِّرَاتِ) and national anthems (الْأَنَاشِيدُ الْوَطَنِيَّةُ), closing with a vocabulary section (الْكَلِمَاتُ الْجَدِيدَةُ وَمَعَانِيهَا).
الجزء الثاني (Part 2) is entirely Quranic Arabic, taught with word-by-word Urdu translation tables: Surah Yusuf is split across twelve lessons (الدَّرْسُ التَّاسِعُ to الدَّرْسُ الْعِشْرُونَ), followed by five lessons on Surah Yaseen, two on Surah Al-Hujurat and three on Surah Al-Waqiah, ending with the official syllabus outline (نصاب عربی). Every lesson gives the Arabic text, the Urdu meaning of each word underneath, and exercises — so a student who works through it slowly genuinely learns to read and understand Quranic Arabic, not just memorize it.

Is Arabic compulsory for all Class 8 students in Punjab?
Arabic is taught as a compulsory subject in Punjab's public schools at the elementary level (classes 6–8) under the Single National Curriculum. This 2022 edition is the official PCTB textbook used in government schools.
Which surahs are included, and do students have to memorize them?
Part 2 covers four surahs with word-by-word Urdu translation: Surah Yusuf (12 lessons, verses 1–111), Surah Yaseen (5 lessons, verses 1–83), Surah Al-Hujurat (2 lessons, verses 1–18) and Surah Al-Waqiah (3 lessons, verses 1–96). The focus is on reading with correct pronunciation and understanding the translation; the exam tests translation and vocabulary rather than full memorization.
What is the difference between the two parts of the book?
الجزء الأول (Part 1, lessons 1–8) teaches Arabic language through prose lessons on Islamic topics like the Hijri calendar, Muslim scientists and Islamic heritage, with a vocabulary section at the end. الجزء الثاني (Part 2, lessons 9–30) is entirely Quranic — verses with word-by-word Urdu meanings and exercises.
How should my child prepare for the Arabic exam?
Practice three things: (1) the Urdu translation of verses from Part 2, especially Surah Yusuf and Surah Yaseen; (2) the meanings of new words (الکلمات الجدیدۃ) from page 42; and (3) the short questions at the end of each Part 1 lesson. Reading the Arabic text aloud daily builds both fluency and confidence.
