Themes in World History is the Class 11 NCERT history textbook — world history told through themes rather than a single timeline. Seven themes: Writing and City Life (Mesopotamia), An Empire Across Three Continents (Rome), Nomadic Empires (the Mongols), The Three Orders (medieval Europe), Changing Cultural Traditions (the Renaissance), Displacing Indigenous Peoples, and Paths to Modernisation (Japan and China).
The rationalized edition removed four themes — From the Beginning of Time, The Central Islamic Lands, Confrontation of Cultures and The Industrial Revolution — leaving seven. Every theme carries maps and timelines, and both appear in the board paper.
