10 Times Table Worksheet

The 10 times table is the table children think they know before they are taught it: just add a zero. But do not skip it. Hidden inside this ‘easy’ table is the whole idea of place value — the engine behind multiplying by 100, by 1,000, and every big calculation that comes later.

This free printable worksheet practises the 10 times table the way memory actually works: mixed order, repeated often, with help that fades away. Download it below, or read on for the 10 table’s hardest facts and the trick that unlocks the whole table.

The 10 times table

  • 10 × 1 = 10
  • 10 × 2 = 20
  • 10 × 3 = 30
  • 10 × 4 = 40
  • 10 × 5 = 50
  • 10 × 6 = 60
  • 10 × 7 = 70
  • 10 × 8 = 80
  • 10 × 9 = 90
  • 10 × 10 = 100

Multiplying by 10 moves every digit one place to the left, and a zero fills the empty ones place: 10 × 7 = 70, 10 × 9 = 90, 10 × 10 = 100. Say it precisely with children — not just ‘add a zero’, but ‘the digits move one place’ — because that language is what makes 10 × 30 and 10 × 0.5 make sense later.

The hardest facts in the 10 table

Not all facts are equal. In my classroom, these are the 10-table facts children miss most — give them extra attention:

  • 10 × 10 = 100 — a milestone fact — the first three-digit answer; celebrate it
  • 10 × 9 = 90 — sometimes rushed into 900 by over-eager zero-adding
  • 10 × 7 = 70 — worth speed practice because it anchors facts like 5 × 7 (half of 70)

Memory trick: Digits move, a zero holds the place

Draw a simple place-value chart (hundreds, tens, ones) and let children physically watch the digit slide one column left when multiplied by 10. Coins make it real: ten 10-rupee (or 10-cent) coins make 100. This table is also the secret helper of the 5 table — every 5-fact is half of a 10-fact — so fluency here pays twice.

About this worksheet

The download is a one-page A4 sheet with 9 target circles and 54 questions. The 10 sits in the centre of each circle; the inner ring holds multipliers 1 to 10 in mixed order; the child writes each answer in the outer ring.

  • Row 1 — With a little help: two answers are printed in blue on each circle, so a nervous beginner starts with success.
  • Row 2 — Only one help: a single given answer per circle.
  • Row 3 — Star Challenge: no help at all — the true test of recall.

Every multiplier appears five or six times across the sheet, so even the hardest facts above get repeated practice. A score strip at the bottom records the score out of 54 and the time taken, with three stars to colour in.

The sheet prints cleanly in black and white on A4. For reuse, slide it into a plastic sleeve and let children write with a whiteboard marker.

Frequently asked questions

If the 10 table is so easy, why practise it at all?

Because fluency matters more than understanding here: instant 10-facts power the 5 table (halving), money work, measurement conversions, and multiplying by 100 and 1,000. A worksheet of mixed 10-facts takes minutes and pays back for years.

Is ‘just add a zero’ a safe rule to teach?

For whole numbers it gives the right answer, but teach the deeper idea alongside it — digits move one place left — so the child is not stranded when decimals arrive (10 × 0.5 = 5, where ‘add a zero’ fails).

What comes after the 10 times table?

Mixed-table fluency: questions that jump between tables, then the 11 and 12 tables if your curriculum includes them. The Star Challenge rows across this worksheet set are a good readiness test.

Is this 10 times table worksheet free for classroom use?

Yes — it is free for classroom and home use. Please keep the credit line at the bottom of the sheet so other teachers can find the source.
