Social Studies VIII (Test Edition) is the Sindh Textbook Board's Class 8 social studies textbook, organized into 6 units. Unit 1 (Understanding Major Historical Events) takes students from the Renaissance and the Age of Exploration through the Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution to modern Europe — then turns to South Asia: British rule in India (1600–1885), the Muslim struggle for self-rule (1905–1932), and the creation of Pakistan (1930–47).

Unit 2 (The Land and People) is the geography core: development and sustainability, global warming, water scarcity and food insecurity, interdependence, the world of air, and urbanization and internal migration. Unit 3 (Political System and Global Government) covers government and democracy, governing the world, human rights, children's rights, and the role of political parties.

The book ends practically: Unit 4 (Trade and Market Economy) teaches markets and prices, international trade, and entrepreneurship; Unit 5 (Heritage, Society and Culture) covers heritage conservation and conflict resolution; and Unit 6 (Skill Development) builds history, geographic, and map-reading skills with a Pakistan urbanization case study.
