Is kitab ke baare mein
Poorvi is the new NCF-SE English textbook for Class 8, launched by NCERT in July 2025 as part of the NEP 2020 series. It replaces the old Honeydew and It So Happened books with 15 pieces grouped into 5 thematic units — Wit and Wisdom, Values and Dispositions, Mystery and Magic, Environment, and Science and Curiosity. Each unit carries a story, a poem and a non-fiction piece, so children meet language through different lenses on the same theme.
The book opens with clever thinking in The Wit that Won Hearts and moves through the real-life valour of Major Somnath Sharma at the Battle of Badgam, the tenderness of Somebody's Mother, the vision of Verghese Kurien, the wonder of The Cherry Tree, and the pioneering science of Bibha Chowdhuri. Exercises are activity-based — speaking, writing and thinking — rather than rote questions.
