Is kitab ke baare mein
Mridang is the new NCF-SE English textbook for Class 1, part of NCERT's NEP 2020 series (first edition May 2023; current reprint 2026-27). Its name comes from the mridangam, the classical Indian percussion instrument — NCERT named the whole new English series after Indian musical instruments. It replaced the old Marigold/Raindrops books.
The book's 9 chapters sit inside 4 units — My Family and Me, Life Around Us, Food and Seasons — and are built around poems, stories and picture-reading activities rather than long text. Everything is activity-first: children sing, speak, draw and point before they read, which is exactly how Class 1 learners pick up English.

Class 1 mein English parhne se zyada sunne aur bolne se aati hai. ‘Two Little Hands’ wali nazm roz sur mein gawayein — haath pair hilate hue — bachche khud dohraenge. ‘Picture Time’ par bachche se tasveer mein nazar aane wali cheezon ke naam poochein; yehi unki pehli English vocabulary hai.

Ji haan — Mridang NCERT ki nayi NCF-SE series (NEP 2020) ki Class 1 English kitab hai (pehla edition May 2023). Purani Marigold/Raindrops ab current syllabus ka hissa nahi; schools ab Mridang parhate hain.

Nahi — Class 1 (aur Class 2) mein NCERT ki alag EVS kitab nahi hoti. Aas-paas ki duniya ki samajh Mridang aur Joyful Mathematics ki activities mein hi shamil hai.
