Is kitab ke baare mein

The Balochistan Textbook Board's Class 6 Computer Science (Pilot Edition, National Curriculum 2022-23) teaches computers as a thinking tool, not just a device. It opens with ICT fundamentals — what ICT devices are, how computer hardware and memory work, and where computers show up in daily life, from weather stations to factory robots — then moves into hands-on digital skills: navigating Windows and Android, managing files and folders, using application software, and understanding the internet.

The second half builds real problem-solving muscle: students learn what an algorithm is, how to write one, and how conditional statements make decisions — then apply it all in Unit 6 by building their first single-sprite, single-script programs in Scratch with sequences, loops, variables and events. The book closes with digital citizenship and a surprisingly grown-up final unit on entrepreneurship in the digital age, using real platforms like Amazon and Alibaba to explain e-commerce to Class 6 minds.

1. ICT Fundamentals

What ICT means, computer hardware and its components (processor, memory, storage), a short history of computers, and where ICT devices are used in communication, measurement and manufacturing industries. Page 1

2. Introduction to Operating System

What an operating system does; comparing Windows, MAC, Linux and Android; history of Windows, Android basics; files, folders, shortcuts and drives; creating, renaming, copying and deleting files on the desktop. Page 28

3. Application Software

What application software is and how it differs from system software; the everyday programs people use to write, calculate, draw and present. Page 48

4. Internet

What the internet is, how it connects computers, and the basic services people use on it every day. Page 70

5. Algorithmic Thinking and Problem Solving

Defining and identifying problems; simple vs complex problems; what an algorithm is and why it matters; types of algorithms, how to write one, and how conditional statements make decisions. Page 86

6. Programming

Why programming languages exist; low, middle and high level languages; exploring Scratch and building first single-sprite programs with sequence, selection, repetition, variables and events. Page 98

7. Digital Citizenship

Being a responsible user of technology — safety, honesty and good behaviour in the digital world. Page 122

8. Entrepreneurship in Digital Age

What entrepreneurship means; traditional vs digital entrepreneurship; basic steps to start a business; components and areas of digital entrepreneurship; e-commerce with real examples like Amazon and Alibaba. Page 133

Ustad ka mashwara

Don't rush the algorithm unit (Unit 5) — bachon ko pehle rozmarra ke kaam ko step-by-step likhna sikhayein (chai banana, school bag pack karna), phir algorithm ki taraf le jayein. Scratch wala unit lab mein demo karein: jab bache khud sprite ko move karte hain to programming un ke liye khel ban jata hai, kitab ka sawal nahi. Operating system wala unit (Unit 2) har bache se practically karwayein — file banana, rename karna, copy-paste — yahi practical SLOs exam mein bhi pooche jate hain.

Where can I download the official Class 6 Computer Science book?

Start on the BTBB read-book page for this book and choose the download option there — the official file is shared from the Board's Google Drive folder. The Online Parho reader on this page also opens the same official file in your browser.

Does this book teach coding to Class 6 students?

Yes. Unit 6 introduces programming through Scratch, the block-based language, and students build single-sprite, single-script programs. They practise sequence, selection, repetition, variables and inputs/events — the five building blocks every programmer learns first.

Do students need a computer background before this book?

No prior computer knowledge is assumed. Unit 1 starts from zero — what ICT means, what the parts of a computer do — and every unit opens with clear Students Learning Outcomes so the class knows exactly what it will master.

What does 'Pilot Edition' on the cover mean?

This is the Board's Pilot Edition printed under the National Curriculum of Pakistan 2022-23. It is a first print run for one academic year, so small improvements may appear in the next edition — content-wise it matches what schools are teaching right now.
