This is the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board's Pakistan Studies textbook for Class 9 (English Medium, 2023-24 edition), authored by Dr. Ali Iftikhar Mirza, Syed Abbas Haider and Muhammad Hussain Chaudhry. It is a slim book — only four chapters — but each one is dense with examinable material. Chapter 1, 'Ideological Basis of Pakistan', unpacks the meaning, sources and significance of ideology, tracing the Two-Nation Theory from Sir Syed Ahmad Khan to Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam. Chapter 2, 'The Pakistan Movement and Emergence of Pakistan', walks through the historical events of the Pakistan Movement from 712 AD to 1971, including the Lahore Resolution, the 1956 and 1962 constitutions, Martial Law proclamations and the causes of the separation of East Pakistan.

Chapter 3, 'Land and Environment', shifts to geography: Pakistan's location and neighbours, mountain ranges, plateaus, plains, glaciers, rivers, wildlife, and environmental hazards. Chapter 4, 'Women's Empowerment', closes the book on a civic note. Every chapter opens with a printed 'Students' Learning Outcomes' box — these are effectively the board's own syllabus contract, and the fourteen-point list in Chapter 2 reads like a ready-made short-question bank. This English-medium edition was translated by Muhammad Ayub Munir, Associate Professor of English at Government Science College, Wahdat Road, Lahore.
