Is this the new-syllabus Chemistry book for Class 9?
Yes. This edition is based on the Revised National Curriculum of Pakistan 2023 and has been approved by the Board (experimental edition, prepared by Ahsan Publishers for PCTB Lahore). If your school issued the 2025-26 books, study this one, not the old 2020 edition.
How is it different from the 2020 Chemistry book?
It is a complete rewrite: 13 chapters instead of 8 units, starting with 'States of Matter and Phase Changes' instead of 'Fundamentals of Chemistry'. It adds brand-new chapters — Energetics, Equilibria, Environmental Chemistry, Empirical Data Collection and Analysis, and Laboratory and Practical Skills — that did not exist in the 2020 book.
Who wrote this book?
Prof. Dr. Abid Zia (PhD Organic Chemistry), a retired Professor of Chemistry from the Education Department, Government of the Punjab, who has been writing science textbooks since 1988-89. It was reviewed by an external committee of chemistry professors and teachers.
Does the book help with practical exams?
Yes — Chapter 13, 'Laboratory and Practical Skills', is dedicated to lab work, and Chapter 12 covers how to collect and analyse experimental data. Read these two chapters alongside your practical notebook before the board practicals.
