This is the brand-new PECTAA (Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority) English textbook for Class 11, built on the Updated/Revised National Curriculum of Pakistan 2023 — the May 2025 experimental edition. It replaces the decades-old reader with 14 fresh units that mix faith, nationhood, science and literature: Unit 1 opens with 'Khatam-un-Nabiyeen Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ', Unit 2 carries the Quaid's voice on youth and nation-building, and later units tackle global warming in Pakistan and the impact of AI on society.
The literary side is equally fresh — Emily Dickinson's 'A Bird Came Down the Walk', Blake's 'The Echoing Green', a poem on 'Freedom', Ruba'iyat, and Seán O'Casey's play 'The End of the Beginning'. Every unit weaves in vocabulary, grammar, oral communication and writing skills (from paragraph writing in Unit 1 to precis and editing skills in Unit 14), so the book teaches the language through the content, not beside it.
